It is important to remember that according to agreements signed with individual countries foreigners can stay within the territory of the Republic of Poland for a period of up to 3 months without a visa. Any longer period requires obtaining a visa from the nearest Polish embassy/consulate abroad or from the local Department for Foreigners of the Passport Office.

Due to a long procedure of applying for the visa (for 3 months only!) it is more convenient for you to apply for it in your own country.

Having come to Poland without a resident visa all foreign students are required to arrange their resident visa formalities immediately.

To do so you will need:

  1. a signed visa application filled in block letters available at the English Division
  2. 1 recent passport photograph (no head cover!)
  3. passport
  4. statement issued by the English Division certifying status of a student and duration of his studies at Wrocław Medical University
  5. acknowledgement of residence registration, obtained from the local government office (Urząd Gminy)

You should submit the documents as well as collect visas in person.

45 days before the expiring of the resident visa you can either apply for the extension of it for another 3 months ( up to 6 months altogether) or ask for a Temporary Stay Card. A Temporary Stay Card is given to whose who enrolled to study in Poland, have obtained a work permit or a permission to set up a business or who are married to a Polish citizen. It is issued for up to 2 years but may be prolonged for up to 10 years.

To apply for it you will need:

  1. a signed visa application filled in block letters available at the English Division
  2. a signed form concerning rules of applying and obtaining visas in Poland
  3. 1 recent passport photograph (no head cover!)
  4. acknowledgement of residence registration, obtained from the local government office (Urząd Gminy)
  5. statement issued by the English Division certifying status of a student and duration of his studies at Wrocław Medical University
  6. passport and its copy
  7. documents confirming the source and the amount of the student's income or subsistence means (e.g. student loan). The documents should be submitted either in Polish or English.

You should submit the documents as well as collect visas in person.

Students themselves are obliged to observe the deadlines of documents submission.
